Alberta funding more healthcare facility maintenance

Rapid transfer unit for ambulance patients at University of Alberta hospital to be permanent

The now-permanent rapid transfer unit for ambulance patients at University of Alberta hospital is one example of the healthcare facility maintenance funding increase in Alberta, Canada, according to an article on the CBC website.

The 11-bed unit gives EMTs a place to put patients while they wait for a physician to see them in the emergency department.

The cost of moving the rapid transfer unit to a permanant place at the hospital will cost $4 million.

The money is coming from the province's infrastructure maintenance program, which is getting a 16-per-cent increase over the amount budgeted by the previous Progressive Conservative government last year.
