Alpen High Performance Products Launches Window with 0.10 U-Factor/R-10 Thermal Resistance

Niwot, Colo.-based Alpen High Performance Products, a leading designer and manufacturer of super-insulating, high-performance windows and doors, will introduce its new Zenith Series ZR10 double-film fixed picture window design to attendees at this week’s GlassBuild America 2016 show in Las Vegas.

The company, exhibiting for the first time at GlassBuild, will additionally display a broad selection of its window packages, which can “insulate like walls” and integrate advanced glazing technology with a wide range of design options for residential and commercial projects.  Providing exceptional condensation and air infiltration resistance, noise reduction and structural performance, Alpen windows additionally offer warm winter interior glass surface temperatures for colder climates, and cool interior glass surface temperatures for warmer regions.

The complete line of Alpen window solutions incorporates features and options like pultruded fiberglass frames, closed-cell foam insulation, marine-grade glazing sealants, hermetically sealed high-performance spacers, low-e coated glass, and high-performance inert gas fill.

“We are excited to be participating for the first time at GlassBuild America, and look forward to engaging attendees in discussions around how Alpen building shell solutions can meet, and likely exceed, their projects’ ultra-high energy performance standards,” said Alpen CEO Brad Begin.  “Alpen has worked diligently to advance development and production of some of the highest-performing windows and glass products, right here in the U.S.  It is extremely rewarding to share the results of our work at the industry’s premier networking and exhibition event this year.”

Alpen will highlight several of its window, door and glass solutions at GlassBuild America booth No. 334, including:

Zenith Series 1025 Windows

The Alpen Zenith Series 1025 combines double-film, triple-chamber insulated glass assemblies with super-insulated and highly energy efficient pultruded fiberglass frames to deliver groundbreaking thermal resistance. High-performance spacers and inert gas fill, along with four independent low-e surfaces in the glass assembly, translate to maximum solar control (SHGC-0.18, center-of-glass) and a center-of-glass U-Factor of up to 0.06 (R-16.7 insulating factor).  The system additionally provides 99.5-percent UV protection, and is ideal in both cooling- and heating-dominant climates.

Available in three window styles, Alpen’s Zenith Series 1025 includes the new ZR10 double-film fixed high profile picture window design (NFRC Certified Products Database number ALP-M-10-00120-00001), which has recently been NFRC-verified to deliver a whole-window 0.10 U-Value (R-10 insulating factor).

The Alpen Zenith Series 1025 additionally includes a casement design providing a whole-window U-Value performance of 0.14 (R-7.1 insulating factor), and an awning design with a 0.15 whole-window U-Value performance (R-6.7 insulating factor).

Fiberglass Ribbon Window System

Alpen’s new Fiberglass Ribbon Window Systems provide exceptional performance, while offering the ability to achieve the standard look of commercial aluminum storefront and strip windows. With full-frame U-Value thermal performance from 0.19 to 0.13 (R-5.6 to R-8.3) and three to four times the air infiltration resistance of conventional aluminum storefront, Alpen’s Fiberglass Ribbon Window System is ideal for enhancing energy efficiency and comfort in both residential and commercial applications.

Offering notable design flexibility, the Alpen Fiberglass Ribbon Window System’s structural capability allows for the creation of expansive sizes and dramatic window wall configurations.  The system’s ultra-slim, modern profiles complement today’s modern design and commercial aesthetics, while allowing for versatile incorporation of both fixed and operable windows.  Ideal for use in fixed, ribbon/strip, large punched opening and window wall applications, numerous window style design options are possible, including those with vertical and horizontal mullions, casement or awning inserts, and fixed trapezoid shapes.

The Fiberglass Ribbon Window System from Alpen also facilitates a modular installation approach, resulting in a highly cost-effective alternative to aluminum site-assembled glazing.  Available with Alpen’s complete range of super-insulating, directionally tuned glazing options and Alpenglass suspended coated film glass technology, the Fiberglass Ribbon Window System enables use of specialty architectural glass without sacrificing thermal performance/U-value.  AAMA A440-11 tested to CW-PG55-FW, the system offers superior air infiltration resistance (0.001 cfm/ft2 at 1.57 psf), water penetration resistance to 15.04 psf (720 Pa), structural test pressure performance of +/- 55.14 psf (2,160 Pa), and Grade 20 forced entry resistance.

625 Series Windows & Doors

Delivering exceptional performance in efficiency, comfort, durability and style, Alpen 625 Series single-film window and door designs provide NFRC-certified whole-window performance of up to a 0.16 U-Value (R-6.3 insulating factor).  Alpen 625 Series windows and doors are comprised of high-quality pultruded fiberglass frames and super-insulating triple-pane Alpenglass™ insulated glazing units, which combine Heat Mirror® suspended coated film with high-performance low-e glass technologies.

Offering multiple glazing options to meet a variety of climate-responsive performance requirements, 625 Series windows and doors are custom-built-to-order, and available in a wide range of architectural styles and colors, and with numerous accessory options.  Further benefits include advanced air and water filtration resistance, notable sound abatement qualities, and center-of-glass U-Value performance ranging from 0.14 to 0.12 (R-7.4 to R-8.2).

Alpen 625 Series designs include fixed low-profile (up to 72-in. by 96-in.), fixed high-profile (up to 72-in. by 96-in.), casement (up to 36-in. by 72-in.), awning (up to 60-in. by 36-in.), single-hung (up to 55-in. by 91-in.), double-hung (up to 55-in. by 91-in.), horizontal slider (up to 55-in. by 91-in.) and custom radius/shape windows, as well as a sliding patio door (XO, XOO and OXXO configurations).  Available with Balanced, SolarControl and HighGain Alpenglass performance options, 625 Series designs can also accommodate simulated divided light (SDL) grids and custom patterns.
