Redevelopment proposal promises 300-400 beds in a full-service hospital, plus 1,000 units of housing

A winner has been selected from the nine groups vying for the rights to redevelop Cobble Hill's Long Island College Hospital, according to an article on the Curbed website.

The winning proposal, from Brooklyn Health Partners, offered $250 million and promised 300-400 beds in a full-service hospital, as well as 1,000 units of housing, 30 percent of which will be classified as affordable.

Brooklyn Health Partners, which was chosen by the State University of New York's board of trustees, is led by real estate developer/former clinical laboratory supervisor Merrell Schexnydre.

During construction, Brooklyn Health Partners will establish a 150-bed temporary hospital.
