Good healthcare facility design depends on the cooperation of all major departments during the design process, according to an article on the Health Facilities Management website.

Clinicians, security professionals, environmental services managers and patients are increasingly part of the design process for healthcare facilities. 

Nurses played a role in helping to design the new Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, for instance. Their input saved several million dollars.

Security personnel, environmental services managers and infection preventionists also should be consulted during the design process.
