According to a case study on the Array Architects website, health system consolidation was a bold step for Capital Health in the late 1990s. The climate was competitive, with more than 10 regional hospitals across six neighboring counties in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. 

The key to Capital Health's plan was adaptability, according to the study. The plan featured three capital improvement projects, implemented over seven years.
