Healthcare Design magazine recently named the winners of the second annual 'The HCD 10' competition. According to the magazine, the awards honor "an elite group of design and architecture professionals who represent the most exciting, inspirational, and influential healthcare work of the previous year."

Nominated by their peers, the winners were selected by the magazine editors from dozens of submissions in 10 categories.

Carlos Gonzalez, project director, Clark/McCarthy, A Joint Venture, was honored in the construction/ business executive category.

After years at the helm of the Clark/McCarthy Joint Venture building the Camp Pendleton replacement hospital, Gonzalez and his team completed construction on the 1 million-square-foot, $456 million project in October 2013, the article said.

According to the article, the project’s 2.5 million man-hours ended with no recorded lost-time incidents. Shooting for another achievement in LEED Gold certification, the Camp Pendleton project’s energy performance is estimated to be 30 percent better than ASHRAE’s baseline standards
