More healthcare facilities are working to eliminate antibiotics in the meat they serve in patient meals to help fight antimicrobial-resistant pathogens, according to an article on the Modern Healthcare website.

But making the transition to antibiotic-free meat can be challenging, the article said.

Finding an available supply at a reasonable price can be difficult. But as demand grows among healthcare providers, more opportunities are becoming available for collaboration.

The not-for-profit coalition Health Care Without Harm's Healthy Food in Health Care program works with healthcare facilities to find meat suppliers.
