Panasonic introduces Exterios: industry's first 28.5 SEER HVAC solution

By Healthcare Facilities Today

Newark, NJ – Panasonic Heating & Air Conditioning Group introduces Exterios, the company’s new 28.5 SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating) HVAC system providing powerful, low-ambient operation for optimum power, control and performance.

Panasonic has successfully combined two of its leading innovations, its breakthrough Inverter and ECONAVI technologies, to develop the Exterios collection, the industry’s most energy efficient HVAC solution on the market.

“We are committed to building and developing products that remain at the forefront of innovation,” said Mark O’Donnell, Panasonic Heating & Air Conditioning Group Manager. “Our Exterios line is the industry’s most energy-efficient HVAC solution and provides the reliable and superior quality products that our customers have come to expect. The combination of innovative technologies featured in this new line deliver exceptional performance and energy efficiency, providing a complete solution for indoor air quality.”

Panasonic’s breakthrough Inverter Technology enables the change of power supply frequency, providing each model with flexible operation while using less electricity.  The inverter constantly adjusts the compressor rotation speed to provide optimum performance at all times. Once the set temperature is reached, the inverter continues to operate with minimum power to avoid unnecessary electricity consumption. This extremely precise operation enables quick cooling or heating while also reducing power consumption.

While occupancy sensors have helped advance lighting technology, Panasonic is using a similar technology to advance the HVAC industry. Powered by ECONAVI Technology (Human Detection Technology), the new Exterios line has the ability to monitor and sense when there are people in the room. Through the detection of human activity the ECONAVI smart technology will automatically adjust the temperature setting for optimum operation. The low activity detection mode feature monitors to decrease cooling when there is less movement, while the absence detection feature switches to a slightly less powerful cooling mode when there is no one in the room at all.

The Exterios collection consists of two new systems, featuring two indoor units and two outdoor units. When combined, the outdoor and indoor models make a complete HVAC system, providing the highest energy efficiency.
