Reusable infection control barriers make hospital renovation safer

Fair Oaks (Va.) Hospital reconstruction project uses new barrier system

A big issue in healthcare reconstruction is balancing the construction work with the hospital’s need to maintain 24/7 operations, according to an article on the Building Design & Construction website.

A recent renovation project at Inova Health System’s Fair Oaks (Va.) Hospital tested a reusable infection-control barrier that minimized the effort required to assemble and disassemble the barrier walls.

The new barrier system was specified for several hundred linear feet of infection-control partitions that needed to be built and disassembled during several phases.

The Edge Guard was a great solution because it could be assembled and disassembled by virtually any project team member using just a ladder, and without generating dust.
