Ten Percent Of N.Y. Nursing Homes Failed At Infection Control

The New York Health Department has fined 23 nursing homes a total of $328,000


A recent investigation of N.Y. nursing homes found that federal and state inspection reports showed infection-control violations at 10 percent of New York’s 613 nursing homes, according to an article on the Democrat & Chronicle website.

Overall, 95 health and safety violations were cited at 77 nursing homes and six homes were cited as being in “immediate jeopardy.” 

The New York Health Department has fined 23 nursing homes a total of $328,000 and more fines are being considered .

New York health officials are easing COVID-19 visitation restrictions for nursing homes under pressure from family members and industry groups.

In mid September, New York nursing homes were allowed to resume limited visitations for facilities that have been without COVID-19 for at least 14 days, down from the previous 28 days, an earlier Democrat & Chronicle article said.

The new rules allows eligible visitation in about 500 of the state’s 613 nursing homes.
