University of Delaware health facility built on brownfield
Healthcare Design website posts photo tour of redevelopment project
The University of Delaware’s Health Sciences Complex was built on the site of a former automotive and U.S. military tank assembly plant in Newark. The challenges of using the brownfield site included inserting a vapor barrier and reusing a portion of the original assembly plant, according to an article on the Healthcare Design website.
As insurance uncertainty and consolidation reshape healthcare, facilities managers are turning to efficiency, adaptability and portfolio optimization to control costs.
The new UT medical center integrates the work of the University’s academic and research enterprise, its Dell Medical School and UT MD Anderson cancer care.
