For suite-style rooms, Allseating’s Foster Patient Recliner - designed in collaboration with Toronto-based designer Aaron Duke - was developed with the understanding that patients are less likely to ambulate if their room recliner is uncomfortable or difficult to use. Duke designed the product with a soft and inviting form, rather than one that is clinical and sterile with limited flexibility. The recliner levers are accessible on both arms, again contributing to ease of use, and aiding with the ambulating process. The recliner’s dual pivoting arms lift up for side access, allowing the patient to easily and safely position themselves comfortably, while also providing a safer solution for transfer.
