AERCO introduces water heating system that lowers energy costs in variety of commercial installations

CHICAGO – AERCO International (AHR booth #1935), a leader in high-efficiency and environmentally-friendly facility operation solutions, introduces the ReCon tankless commercial water heating system that offers contractors, facilities management and building owners high turndown and efficiency, precise temperature control and long-term reliability in a small footprint. Delivering low cost-of-ownership, the ReCon family can reduce operating costs and help create energy savings in systems requiring more than 500,000 BTU/hr.

The unique tankless design of the ReCon makes it one of the most space efficient and cost-effective water heating systems in its class. The unit eliminates the need for significant storage volume associated with tank-type heaters to buffer load change while continuing to provide stable hot water outlet temperatures. Its small footprint allows the ReCon to fit through a standard doorway as well as in compact spaces.

AERCO designed the ReCon as a drop-in replacement for the AERCO KC1000 water heater, with an identical footprint and floor bolt holes as the KC1000. Water, gas, and vent connections are in similar locations, as well. A variety of venting options, including sidewall, through–the–roof, and sealed combustion, provide installation flexibility. ReCon’s low vent stack temperature allows the system to be bundled with the AERCO PolyPro® venting system to reduce install time and cost. The 100% recyclable, eco-friendly PolyPro venting validates the reduced carbon footprint and energy efficiency of the ReCon. The water heater also features whisper quiet operation.

ReCon features an intuitive, easy-to-program control system that incorporates dynamic feed-forward sensing for precise modulation of the water heating system’s air/fuel delivery system. The result is high turndown of 10:1. Users can adjust the set point from 50° F to 190° F and the ReCon will maintain tight temperature control of +/- 4° F under normal operating conditions.

AERCO has designed the ReCon with state-of-the-art technology to satisfy demanding commercial and industrial hot water requirements. A durable high-efficiency helical firetube heat exchanger is impervious to thermal stress. The all stainless steel construction of the ReCon maximizes longevity in condensing applications and corrugated tubes increase the effective heat transfer surface area for optimal thermal efficiencies up to 99%. Enhanced waterside flow distribution maintains constant minimum velocities across the heat exchanger to greatly reduce scale dropout for consistent high-efficiency performance and long life.

For further energy savings and lower operating costs, Recon can be operated using the onboard C-More water management control system with sequencing logic. As many as eight water heaters can be sequenced on the same system to meet load requirements, which minimizes cycles per unit for greater system efficiency and turndown, and reduced service and maintenance costs. The program logic also incorporates a unique master/slave backup feature that automatically transfers master functions to the next ReCon unit on the chain, in case of designated master unit shutdown. The result is the most energy-efficient and reliable water heating system design available, as water heaters in standby mode do not cycle to maintain set point.

The ReCon series can be an integral part of an overall high-efficiency water heating solution offered by AERCO. To ensure the proper water heater is installed, AERCO has developed the AERCO SMART SIZE Water Heater Selection Program, which is the only tool of its kind guaranteed by the manufacturer. Contractors can use the online program to select the proper sized unit for maximum fuel savings. Additionally, AERCO offers comprehensive maintenance, training, and support to customers that can aid in optimal operation and long-term reliability, for even greater lifetime cost savings.

About AERCO

AERCO is a North American market leader in providing high-efficiency, cost-effective commercial and industrial heat and hot water solutions that improve up time reliability, reduce mechanical room footprint, and minimize lifecycle expenses for systems designed into commercial buildings, government facilities, hospitals/medical offices, hotels, multi-family dwellings, and schools. Founded in 1949, AERCO originated tankless water heating, introduced the first modulating and condensing gas-fired unit for the commercial market and helped pioneer the high-efficiency boiler category.
