AHE elects two at-large board members

Association for the Healthcare Environment president re-appointed

The Association for the Healthcare Environment (AHE) has announced that the current AHE board president, R. Michael Bailey, CHESP, was re-appointed to serve a second term. Two additional At Large Board Members were elected for the 2014-2016 term. Douglas Rothermel, CHESP, and Brad Winnie, CHESP, were elected by the AHE membership.

R. Michael Bailey has 15 years' experience in healthcare and is the director of environmental services at Greenville Health System in Greenville, SC. Along with his past year as AHE President, Bailey's contributions to AHE include participation in the AHE Advisory Council, AHA CHESP Certification Committee, Planning Committee and Publication Committee, and he has served as president of the South Carolina Society for Environmental Services.

Doug Rothermel is the director of environmental services at St. Joseph's Hospital of the BayCare Health System in Tampa, FL, Rothermel has served in his current position for six years, and has over 17 years' experience in healthcare. He began his career in the United States Air Force, where he served for nine years in the dental field. He transitioned to the civilian sector, joining a hospital management company specializing in environmental services. He has been a member of AHE since 2002 and has served on AHE's 2012 Planning Committee, Industry Advisory Task Force, Bylaws Committee and Advisory Council. Rothermel has a master's degree in business administration, a bachelor's of science degree in healthcare management, and is a Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional.

Brad Winnie has been active in environmental services for over 20 years. He began his career in high school with a local cleaning company and started his own company at the age of 23. After seven years, he sold his company and joined a global facility services company in 2004. In 2007, Winnie was promoted to general manager/director of environmental services at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare - St. Francis in Milwaukee. His responsibilities include environmental services, patient transportation and Linen Services departments.

Rothermel and Winnie begin their terms January 1, 2014.
