AIA Contract Documents and MasterSpec to collaborate

The American Institute of Architects (AIA)and ARCOM, the specification experts, announced that they will be collaborating together to enhance the exchange of project information between AIA Contract Documents and the MasterSpec® specification system published by ARCOM.

"We believe this collaboration regarding the automated exchange of project data will eliminate repetitive work and increase the productivity of design professionals in creating construction projects,“ said Christopher Bushnell, President and CEO of ARCOM.

The AIA has published AIA Contract Documents for over 100 years. With nearly 200 agreements and administrative forms, AIA Contract Documents are recognized throughout the design and construction industry as the benchmark for managing transactions and relationships involved in construction projects.

"We are always looking for opportunities to provide additional value to AIA Contract Documents users, and this collaboration with ARCOM regarding the exchange of project information is one example of that effort.  We expect that we will collaborate on more of these opportunities in the coming years,” said Deborah DeBernard, Senior Vice President of AIA Global Innovation.

MasterSpec has been the standard for specifications for more than 45 years. With 850+ specification sections in three formats, MasterSpec is recognized as the most comprehensive specification system available in the construction industry.

The AIA and ARCOM believe this effort is an important step forward in the construction industry's drive toward integrated construction information.
