The American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) is offering a two-day course designed to specifically address the commissioning process in healthcare facilities.
According to ASHE, conventional methods for optimizing energy efficiency don’t adequately address the transition from facility construction to occupancy. The ASHE Health Facility Commissioning (HFCx) process provides a set of tools that can help a healthcare organization realize its anticipated return on investment in both facilities and equipment.
Attendees will learn the following during the course:
• Essential components of an HFCx business plan
• How to develop energy efficiency goals and use a commissioning process to ensure long-term achievement of them
• Purpose of the Owner’s Project Requirements (OPR)
• Purpose of the Basis of Design (BOD)
• How to prepare a commissioning scope
• How to create requirements for selection of the commissioning authority
• How to evaluate operational objectives and develop dashboards for reporting and monitoring key data
• How to use the ASHE Health Facility Commissioning Guidelines and Handbook as tools in implementing and managing an effective commissioning process
ASHE asserts that the cost of not commissioning is far higher than the direct cost of commissioning. And the course places particular emphasis on creating a collaborative environment that brings the healthcare organization, design team, construction team and commissioning agent together to share responsibility for meeting project requirements.
