Strategies can guard hospitals against obsolescence


Strategies that adapt to healthcare design trends can guard hospitals against obsolescence, according to an article on the Medical Construction & Design website.

Today, technological and financial pressures are closing inpatient units and consolidating inpatient care.

New hospitals must have an infrastructure to adapt and change rapidly and economically. 

That means designing facilities where whole units, departments or functions can be easily replaced in situ without additional square footage, the article said.
