In 2022, the NC Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) approved AdventHealth’s Certificate of Need (CON) application to build this hospital to meet the growing need for health care in Buncombe, Graham, Madison and Yancey Counties. HCA/Mission appealed the State’s decision leading to a trial that took place in fall 2023.

The announcement of the location for the new hospital comes as AdventHealth waits to learn the outcome of the appeal.
