Albany hospital finishing $259 million construction project

After more than a decade of construction, St. Peter's Hospital is nearly finished with the renovation of its healthcare facilities

After more than a decade of construction, Albany's St. Peter's Hospital is nearly finished with the $259 million renovation of its healthcare facilities, according to an article on the Albany Business Journal website.

The Hearst Pavilion, a joint replacement center set to open this summer, will mark one of the final improvements at the 442-bed hospital and its affiliated buildings.

St. Peter's Hospital has been involved in one of the region's largest private construction projects. The $258.7 million undertaking included renovating nearly 600,000 square feet of patient care facilities, the article said.

"Through the completion of this project, the campus of St. Peter's Hospital is more efficient, more effective, and more attractive," George Hearst, chairman of the St. Peter's Hospital Foundation's Cornerstone Campaign.

Highlights of the renovation include a 1,500-car parking garage, an atrium and upgrades to medical departments, such as adding new cardiac and vascular surgery facilities.
