Alexa can now be HIPAA compliant

Amazon says health data can now be accessed securely


Amazon recently unveiled software that allows healthcare companies to build Alexa voice tools capable of securely transmitting private patient information, according to an article on the Amazon Alexa website.

New tools have already been developed by a number of organizations which will allow patients to use Alexa to access personalized information including post-surgery and prescription status.

Atrium Health customers in North and South Carolina can find an urgent care location near them and schedule a same-day appointment.

The HIPAA compliance may also allow healthcare facilities to use the Alexa technology in relation in other clinical settings.
