CHICAGO - Celebrating a 10-year partnership, Allscripts (Nasdaq:MDRX) and Elsevier Clinical Solutions are raising the level of patient care decision-making support for clinicians by embedding Elsevier's CPM Framework in Allscripts Sunrise electronic health record (EHR). The collaboration strengthens coordination of patient care capabilities in the Allscripts Sunrise EHR, the core of the solution Allscripts and CSC (NYSE:CSC) exclusively proposed to the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) for the DoD Healthcare Management System Modernization (DHMSM).
DHMSM seeks an open EHR solution that is interoperable between a wide range of public and private healthcare facilities and military treatment facilities to improve healthcare services for military members and their families.
Access to Best Practices Improves Bedside and Theater Care
Elsevier's CPM Framework includes an interprofessional practice model designed to support care providers in clinical decision-making and applying best practices at the point of care. Through the Allscripts Sunrise solution, clinicians have access to patients' health history in a way that is intentionally designed to support the application of the CPM Framework. Treatment plans are supplemented with evidence-based best practices, which improves quality of care and patient outcomes.
"Open access to data and best treatment options are critical for all patients, but especially for military personnel and their families who often relocate back to the United States after their foreign service," said Allscripts Chief Quality and Outcomes Officer Diane Bradley, MD.
"By integrating the CPM Framework in Allscripts Sunrise EHR, clinicians have instant access to a comprehensive system of clinical practice models to guide their care decisions."
Field-tested Framework Improves Patient Outcomes
Members of the military injured in the line of duty may transfer between healthcare facilities in a number of countries in a short amount of time. The Allscripts Sunrise EHR and Elsevier CPM Framework help ensure continuity of care by providing clinicians at every site a complete picture of patients' history and rationale for treatment plans, which are based on best practices that are uniquely individualized to each situation.
"The CPM Framework elevates the standard of care by providing field-tested access to best practices for all healthcare professional treating military personnel and their families, no matter where they are located in the world," said Michelle Troseth, MSN, RN, DPNAP, FAAN, chief professional practice officer for Elsevier Clinical Solutions.
"Allscripts Sunrise breaks down barriers to getting information clinicians need to efficiently treat patients and improve the care process."
