Attacks on nurses are increasing and experts are concerned about the workplace safety in healthcare facilities, according to an article on the Outpatient Safety website.

One in four nurses have been physically attacked at work in the last year and violent injuries in healthcare exceed those in all other industries combined, according to an article in The Atlantic.

Although the U.S. Department of Labor is considering national workplace safety standards, some healthcare facilities have taken proactive steps to protect their employees.

Some organizations are offering self defense classes and running drills of violent situations.
