Australia's largest hospital solar power system planned

The Port Macquarie Base Hospital is installing the largest rooftop solar panel system on a healthcare facility

The Port Macquarie Base Hospital is installing the largest rooftop solar panel system on a healthcare facility in Australia, according to an article on the ABC website.

The Port Macquarie Base Hospital has been chosen as a pilot site for the large-scale solar project, which aims to demonstrate that it is a cost effective and sustainable option for hospitals across the country.

The town on the New South Wales Mid North Coast is said to have one of the best climates in Australia.

Until now, The Friendly Society Private Hospital in Bundaberg, Queensland had claimed the largest solar energy system on a healthcare facility. It installed more than 1,200 panels which generate 545kW of electricity — slightly more than a 503kW rooftop array belonging to the Canberra Hospital.
