Incident highlights need for layered security


The cyberattack on Phoenix-based Banner Health has healthcare facilities re-examining their defenses, according to an article on the Becker's Health IT and CIO Review website.

The hackers appear to have infiltrated the point-of-sale systems at the food and beverage outlets. From there, they seem to have been able to access other systems. 

This lack of segmentation poses a significant security risk.

Putting all systems on one main network gives hackers easy access to information.
