Becker’s Conference Roundup: A Winning Collaboration between an ACO and the Care Intelligence System

Nathan Riggle, Director of Analytics at the Mercy Accountable Organization of Iowa, took the time to walk us through their successful strategy to achieve value-based care at Becker's Hospital Review 3rd Annual Health IT & Revenue Cycle Conference.

In the same vein as the impressive lineup of thought leaders and speakers from various hospitals and health systems, Riggle delivered an insightful session on how the Mercy ACO supercharged its value-based efforts, titled, “Journey of a Winning Collaboration between an ACO and an IT vendor.”  With a true “build-operate-reiterate” model that can grow with the ever-changing healthcare landscape, ACOs will get on track to develop a more seamless approach to value-based care. To align themselves with the primary vision of improving the health of the patients, the Iowa-based ACO opted to drive their data-driven initiatives by leveraging Innovaccer’s Care Intelligence System™.

Innovaccer Inc., a Berkeley, CA-based healthcare platform company also exhibited at the three-day event in Chicago. Innovaccer launched their Care Intelligence SystemTM, a holistic care platform that standardizes data from multiple sources in a healthcare organization to bring care teams actionable insights. The platform leverages machine learning to streamline workflows and enable intelligent care engagement thus, easing the transition to a value-based future. Equipped with a micro-service architecture, the Care Intelligence System™ allows healthcare organizations to engage with patients in real-time and aligns itself with the industry-wide goal of making healthcare quality-centric.

Also seen and heard at Becker’s this year was renowned clinical and health IT thought leader, Dr. David K Nace, MD, who shared his views on, “How will software engineering impact the future of Health IT?” The in-depth panel discussion covered a diverse set of topics and opportunities associated with the growth of Health IT, and its complexity as well as realized the massively growing significance of technology in accelerating healthcare.

It was not all work though, with attendees, speakers, and exhibitors gathering to unwind and network over cocktails, hosted by Innovaccer on Day 1 of the conference. This evening was spent in the company of Steve McMichael, Dan Hampton, and Otis Wilson of the '85 Chicago Bears.

“The interest in changing the landscape of healthcare keeps growing. As Becker’s annual conferences continue to be watering holes for the brightest minds in healthcare and provide multiple platforms to showcase innovation, we are thrilled at being a part of it,” says Abhinav Shashank, CEO at Innovaccer. “This conference was highly educational and served as a looking glass at how data, intelligent systems, and analytics have become central in healthcare.”
