Proper hand washing can help healthcare workers fight germs, bacteria and disease


Proper hand washing can help healthcare workers fight the spread of germs and bacteria in hospitals and medical facilities, according to an article on the FacilityCare website.

Unfortunately, the Handwashing For Life Institute reports that only about half of healthcare workers follow proper hand-washing protocol.

To encourage hand washing, hand soap and sanitizer gels should be available at intervention sites throughout the building for anyone to use, the article said.

Facilities should also post signs throughout the building to remind people to wash their hands and/or apply sanitizing gel at appropriate times.
