Guidelines from The Center for Health Design are a good place to start when looking at evidence-based design in hospital flooring.

Its 2012 guide to implementing evidence-based design (EBD) in the selection of health care flooring uses EBD and original research, detailing industry best practices for flooring. 

One key consideration when choosing flooring is remembering the entrance, corridors and clinical areas all serve different purposes and will face different pressures.
