A black mold abatement project is underway at Sonoma West Medical Center in Sebastopol, Calif., according to an article on the Sonoma West Times and News website.
The construction project will remediate a black mold-infested sterilization room. The repair project was submitted on July 7, roughly six weeks after mold was discovered in the sterile sink on May 30.
The remediation project entails repairing a damaged wall after mold abatement is completed in the central sterile sink and associated spaces. A new handwashing fixture is required in the central sterile sink. Additionally, the existing stainless steel counter with sink will be anchored in the decontamination room.
The Palm Drive Health Care District has agreed to pay for remediation of the mold. The district owns the hospital building and is responsible for its maintenance and overall care.
