Blog gives children's hospital holiday makeover

Young House Love spruces up Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU's family care center room

By Healthcare Facilities Today

As part of its 12 Days of Holiday Cheer last month, Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU enlisted the help of home blogger Young House Love to spruce up its family care center room.

The bloggers/designers gave the room a homey touch while adding some festive elements for the holiday season, according to an article on the Medical Construction and Design magazine website.

According to the article, Young House Love learned designing a hospital space came with a lot more challenges and restrictions, including safety and sanitary concerns. The three-day project included painting, building a custom chalkboard, decorating a Christmas tree, creating a fake fireplace and hanging window treatments.

“This was the hardest but most rewarding design challenge we have ever faced,” Sherry Petersik of Young House Love said in the article.
