Peace Arch Hospital in White Rock, British Columbia, plans to boost emergency generator capacity to meet Canadian Standards Association requirements for power supply and electrical safety, according to an article on the Peace Arch News website.
The building project is necessary because the existing facility does not have room to accommodate additional generators and new seismic-upgrade standards.
Fraser Health initially sought a variance that would allow the facility to be built closer to area homes than city bylaws allowed, prompting residents to cite noise and proximity as among concerns regarding the planned generator building and exhaust stack, the article said.
Fraser has since withdrawn the variance application and the plan is moving ahead.
