CBC Real Estate Group announced its plans to develop Rock Regional Hospital in Derby, Kan. The 65,000 square-foot, 30-bed general acute care hospital and adjacent 40,000 square-foot medical office building will be located north of Patriot Avenue and west of Rock Road, in the proposed STAR Bond District at the north end of Derby. CBC anticipates construction will begin this year, with Rock Regional Hospital fully operational by 2018.
“We have been evaluating the Derby market for a healthcare project like Rock Regional Hospital for several years,” said CBC’s Executive Vice President of Development, Mike Belew, during a public hearing for the STAR Bond Project Plan held by the Derby City Council on July 12. “We are excited to bring this unique medical facility to Derby. The ownership group has garnered support from the local medical community and we have partnered with a first-rate operator to make this project a reality. Although we believe the project can benefit from the STAR Bond District, our plans to proceed with Rock Regional Hospital are not dependant on its approval.”
Rock Regional Hospital, a community hospital with a surgical emphasis, will have 12 inpatient medical beds, 12 surgical beds and six intensive care unit beds. The $40 million facility will include three operating rooms, two procedure rooms, three cath lab rooms and three emergency department rooms.
The hospital will be operated by Southlake, Texas-based Candor Healthcare, which has a proven track record of successfully developing and managing hospitals and other healthcare facilities. With integrity being paramount, Candor creates an innovative environment that encourages excellence in patient care, a culture of caring and positive patient outcomes.
