CDC back-burners nuclear war prep to focus on the flu epidemic
Briefing on preparation for nuclear war postponed
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) postponed its briefing on preparation for nuclear war and replaced it with guidance on responding to severe influenza, according to an article on the Fierce Healthcare website.
The previously scheduled briefing raised concerns in the wake of the president’s tweet about North Korea and a nuclear button.
But the CDC changed the topic for its Jan. 16 briefing due to the spike in flu cases around the country.
The agency said it will reschedule the topic on nuclear detonation response but didn’t list a new date.
