Alberta's auditor general says while no patient is in immediate danger, the province can do a better job on infection control in healthcare facilities, according to an article on the Global Post website..
Merwan Saher, in his latest report, said an audit of hospitals found that patients were not at "immediate and significant risk" of getting infected through poor handwashing or instrument sterilizing by caregivers, the article said.
Saher said facilities should do a better job making it clear who is responsible for what when it comes to infection control and how the process is to be monitored. He also said instrument sterilization standards need to be more uniform across the province, according to the article.
