Charlotte behavioral-health hospital resembles a lodge

The inpatient hospital is designed with a comforting and relaxing environment with wood floors, natural paint colors, windows and outdoor concourses

Carolinas HealthCare System Behavioral Health-Davidson recently opened a new $36 million behavioral-health campus that will offer inpatient and outpatient services, according to an article on the Charlotte Business Journal website.

The 66-bed, 67,280-square-foot inpatient hospital in Charlotte, N.C., was built on a 22-acre parcel and resembles a lodge, according to the article.

The aesthetics and architecture were designed to provide a comforting and relaxing environment. Features include wood floors, natural paint colors, windows to let light in and outdoor concourses.

“(The environment) promotes recovery, self discovery and allows for them to understand they will and can get back to their lives,” said Dr. Alicia Romeo, medical director, in the article.
