Cleveland Clinic announced the opening of the Coral Springs Family Health Center, a new 73,000 square-foot facility offering specialty care, outpatient surgery, endoscopy and advanced imaging services. The $53 million facility is located at the southeast corner of the Sawgrass Expressway and University Drive at 5701 N. University Drive, in Coral Springs, Fla.
The addition of the Coral Springs Family Health Center is part of a $302 million capital expansion, driven by growth and the demand for Cleveland Clinic’s services in Florida.
“The Coral Springs Family Health Center provides convenient access to world-class care to residents in Coral Springs, Parkland, as well those in northern Broward and southern Palm Beach County,” said Wael Barsoum, M.D., CEO and President of Cleveland Clinic Florida. “We continue to build on our 30-year history of providing an advanced level of care to patients in South Florida, and we are proud that a growing number of patients are seeking the specialized services we provide.”
Constructed in partnership with Jupiter-based Rendina Healthcare Real Estate, the state-of-the-art facility has 40 exam rooms, four operating rooms (plus two in reserve), two endoscopy suites, 24 prep and recovery bays, 15 full-time physicians, 20 rotating physicians, and 95 total clinical and administrative staff. Services spanning 17 medical specialties are available at the Coral Springs Family Health Center, including breast, colorectal, general, gynecological, hand, orthopaedic, ear, nose and throat, plastic, urological, and vascular surgery.
The Coral Springs Family Health Center benefits from the expertise of Cleveland Clinic’s health system in Ohio where it operates five similar centers that feature specialty and outpatient surgical care.
“We developed treatment protocols for ambulatory care using best practices implemented throughout the Cleveland Clinic enterprise to ensure that our patients have a safe experience and receive the highest quality care,” said Juan Nogueras, MD, FACS, FASCRS, MBA, Medical Director of the Coral Springs Family Health Center. “This involves using Cleveland Clinic’s Risk Assessment Tool to identify candidates for ambulatory care so that patients requiring complex care remain at our hospital in Weston. That means patients are in the right place at the right time for the right care.”
Reflecting Cleveland Clinic’s “patient first” philosophy, the patient experience was paramount in the design of the Coral Springs Family Health Center, which maximizes natural light in patient care areas to reduce recovery times and improve wellbeing. In addition, a 45-piece fine art collection of diverse subject matter, media and imagery, was chosen specifically to enhance comfort and mood and reduce patients’ stress levels. Seven self-check-in kiosks provide an added convenience, streamlining the registration process for patients and their families.
