(*)It is not possible to precisely determine the overall clinical and economic impact of implementing EarlySense systems globally. However, assuming that the outcome achieved in every bed is in line with the results published in the American Journal of Medicine in relation to reduction of adverse events are applicable worldwide, it is generally estimated that by early detection and intervention, clinicians were able to impact patients and hospitals as outlined herein.
“2015 was an extremely rewarding year for EarlySense as we doubled our installed base, thereby helping healthcare providers double the number of lives saved each year using the EarlySense System. In addition, increasing clinical evidence is showing the EarlySense System offers healthcare systems significant economic benefits,” said Avner Halperin, CEO of EarlySense. “In fact, it has become typical that when a healthcare system acquires the EarlySense System, they almost always repurchase systems for additional care areas.”
In 2015, EarlySense signed dozens of new customer facilities, including a VA Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Center, which has been using EarlySense for more than one year, and has seen an 80% reduction in mortality following a 60% reduction of Code Blue activations.
This year, the company received regulatory clearance in South Korea and Canada. It also entered into partnerships with Mitsui to expand its presence in Japan and Custom Medical Solutions to increase its use in long term/home care facilities in the U.S. Most recently, the company entered into a co-marketing agreement with Herman-Miller Nemschoff that allows the first integrated chair with EarlySense sensors to be available in the market.
2015 also marked EarlySense’s entry into the consumer wellness category, with the launch of its OEM solution, myEarlySense. The technology has already been incorporated into Samsung’s SleepSense, Beurer’s SE 80 Sleep Expert, and the iFit Sleep System.
Additionally, EarlySense won several awards and industry recognitions. Mattermark & Forbes listed EarlySense as one of the top 100 IOT startups in the world. FierceMedicalDevices named EarlySense a “Fierce 15” Med Tech Company of 2015, and Healthcare Informatics selected EarlySense as 2015 Up-and-Comer for Tracking Critical Patient Health Status.
“We look forward to introducing EarlySense’s clinically validated technology to millions of homes, empowering consumers to improve their overall wellness, improve care for loved ones and enjoy the benefits of truly smart homes,” added Halperin.
