Cooper Notification launches industry-first LED high fidelity speaker line

LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Cooper Notification, a leading supplier of Life Safety and Mass Notification System (MNS) solutions, is excited to announce the industry’s first line of speakers to utilize Light Emitting Diode (LED) as the light source for its speaker strobe models. The newest solution from Wheelock’s Exceder LED Series produces high fidelity sound output in a low-profile design for indoor wall-mount applications, where intelligible voice is required.

With the widest frequency response range in the industry, 300 to 8,000 Hz, the Exceder LED Speakers and Speaker Strobes feature leading intelligibility with crisp, clear voice messages and tone signaling ideal for emergency communications, mass notification and voice evacuation. The wider frequency response range allows the speaker to reproduce frequencies closer to the original sound, improving the clarity and comprehension of the intended message.

In addition to the widest frequency response range in the industry, Cooper Notification’s patented LED technology also provides the industry’s lowest current draw. It allows for energy savings of up to 52 percent compared to competitive models. Using LED as the strobe light source, the product incorporates high-efficiency optics to minimize current draw. This allows for a greater number of appliances on the notification appliance circuit and requires fewer power supplies.

“As part of a continuing effort to provide customers with innovative and energy-efficient solutions, Cooper Notification is proud to announce the expansion of our Exceder LED product line,” said Huyenchau Villas, product manager, Cooper Notification division. “Designed for highly intelligible voice communications, the Exceder LED High Fidelity Series features the lowest ratio of size to current consumption and the highest ratio of light output to current draw. This provides building owners with a reduced total cost of ownership and fewer potential points of failure in the life safety system.”

The Exceder LED Speaker Strobes and Speakers offer one of the industry’s smallest footprints in a sleek, modern, low-profile design. For faster and easier installation, the series includes dual voltage (25/70 VRMS), five field-selectable tap settings (1/8 to 2 watts), four field-selectable candela settings (15, 30, 75, 110 cd) and convenient mounting options for both new and retrofit construction.

To help system designers meet intelligibility code requirements, Cooper Notification is pleased to offer speaker data files for the EASE Evac software design tool from AFMG technologies. It includes Cooper Notification’s full product line, from indoor high fidelity speakers to outdoor High Power Speaker Arrays.
