Interior designer Ashlina Kaposta created a homey, happy space for a 16-year-old hospital patient as part of the 'Dec My Room' project, according to an article on the Good Housekeeping website.
For 'Dec My Room,' volunteers shop for and decorate the rooms of hospital patients. The goal is to create a more personalized hospital room filled with things that the patient will find comforting during their stay.
According to Kaposta, the 'Dec My Room' team told the patient, at Texas Children's Hospital, that she was receiving a room makeover and found out her favorite things.
The patient was 16, loved baby blue and pink, animal prints, puppies and geographic elements like rocks and water, the article said.
"When she came into the room for the first time, she gasped and said, 'Oh my god, it's so beautiful!' Then she shed a tear and everyone just melted. It was so sweet and emotional." Kaposta said in the article.
