When developing a floor-cleaning program for a healthcare facility, including certain steps will make the process more efficient and extend the life of the floor, according to an article on the Health Facilities Management website.

The inside of the door should be followed by 15 feet of a wiping-type matting that is changed when soiled.

“Wet Floor” or “Caution” signs should be used with every wet-cleaning process and staff should wear appropriate protective equipment.

Cleaning equipment should be inspected to ensure safety and cleaning chemicals and their hazardous-response procedures should be reviewed.
