Dick Moeller Joins Stantec to Expand its Healthcare Mechanical Engineering Practice in Southern California

Richard (Dick) Moeller has joined Stantec—a global engineering, architecture, and consulting firm—as a senior mechanical engineer in its growing buildings engineering team in San Diego, California. Moeller has more than 40 years of experience in design and management of numerous project types, with a focus on the design of sustainable healthcare facilities.

Moeller has presented nationally and internationally as a recognized subject matter expert on healthcare infrastructure systems, high-performance healthcare facilities and infection prevention in the healthcare design, construction and operation environment. He has authored and co-authored multiple articles.

Moeller is the former President/CEO of CDi Engineers in Lynnwood, Washington, which he joined in 1995. He provided the vision and led the effort to grow CDi from a small public project-focused firm into the leading healthcare mechanical engineering consulting firm on the West Coast during his tenure. Moeller led the recruitment and retention of an elite group of engineers, designers, support and administrative staff that were client and project focused. After merging CDi Engineers with Mazzetti in 2014, Moeller relocated to Irvine, California, before retiring in 2016.

Moeller is an active member of the American Hospital Association (AHA), the American Society for Health Care Engineering (ASHE), the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC), and a Life Member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). An ASHE faculty member since 1999, Moeller has spoken nationally on healthcare issues for ASHE/AHA. Among his topics: Healthcare Construction Certificate, Managing Infection Prevention During the Construction and Operation of Healthcare Facilities, and Ventilation of Health Care Facilities: Complying with ASHRAE Standard 170.

“We’re thrilled to have Dick join our mechanical team in Southern California,” says Orion Morrissey, Stantec principal. “The wealth of experience that Dick brings to our design team will help us continue to develop better community-minded healthcare designs. He will be a tremendous asset to our clients and our growing mechanical team, working on projects in Southern California and beyond.”

Moeller is a graduate of the University of Washington, a licensed professional engineer in multiple states, a LEED Accredited Professional, a designated ASHE Fellow, an ASHRAE certified Healthcare Facility Design Professional, and an AHA Certified Healthcare Constructor.
