Sealed Air’s (NYSE: SEE) Diversey Care division today announced it has raised more than $4,100 for Soap for Hope™. Diversey Care donated $1 for every like, love and share received on its World Hand Hygiene Day social media posts.
First launched in 2013, Soap for Hope currently recovers leftover hotel soap in 10 countries. A specially customized cold-press method that requires no running water and electricity is used to turn the soap slivers into new bars by local community members. The repurposed soap is then distributed to people who typically have limited access to hygienic amenities. The program gives impoverished community members a means of livelihood through learning a new skill, while reducing hotel waste and helping to save lives.
“The more people we can encourage to practice hand hygiene at critical moments, the more lives we can save,” said Dr. Ilham Kadri, President, Diversey Care. “The program provides aid to impoverished communities around the world, and we are pleased to support such a worthwhile initiative.”
The donation from Diversey Care will allow Soap for Hope to extend to additional geographies, and assist with projects in Indonesia, Cambodia and the Philippines.
