New York City’s Mount Sinai Medical Center Emergency Department is one of a growing number of ERs specializing in geriatric emergency medicine according to an article on the Considerable website.

The specialized collaborative team specifically designed to diagnose and treat people over 65 years old, so patients aren’t admitted for minor flu, for example. 

The efforts, seem to be paying off. Hospital admissions for those over 65 were down 33 percent, according to a 2018 study in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society.
