'Energy efficient building systems in healthcare facilities' seminars planned in Eau Claire and Kohler, Wis.

The Energy Center of Wisconsin's Energy Center University is hosting a seminar, "Energy efficient building systems in healthcare facilities"  in Eau Claire and Kohler, Wis., Oct.22 and 23, 2013.

The course is designed for both those who work on the business side of energy management and those who work to keep healthcare facility buildings operating smoothly. We'll explore energy-savings strategies specific to healthcare facilities and examine the parameters that need to be considered in order to effectively implement these strategies. We'll take a look at energy economics in healthcare facilities overall and help you identify and justify energy management investments. Opportunities to improve the performance and energy efficiency of various building components will be reviewed in-depth including the heating, cooling, air handling, ventilation and hot-water systems. From HVAC to hot-water systems, opportunities to reduce energy consumption in healthcare facilities while meeting regulatory and code requirements are plentiful. We'll show you how to achieve maximum efficiency with a focus on systems that commonly garner the most financial benefit such as heating, cooling, air handling, ventilation and hot-water systems. A discussion and review of real-world energy use and benchmarking will provide tangible examples, as well as the relevant information you need to make your case for energy improvements. To further assist in moving your energy efficiency initiatives forward, a Focus on Energy Advisor will outline the resources available through Wisconsin's energy efficiency program.

AS A RESULT OF THIS TRAINING, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO:

• Explain why healthcare facilities should invest in energy management.

• Identify targeted energy-savings opportunities within healthcare facilities.

• Present a comprehensive case for implementation of energy-savings strategies.
