Eppstein Uhen Architects (EUA) has received a Grand Prize Award for excellence in educational facility design in the fall 2017 edition of Learning By Design, the premier source for education design innovation and excellence. Waunakee Intermediate School (Waunakee, WI) has been recognized by Learning By Designmagazine for its architectural and interior design and for having benchmark type attributes worth of imitation.
Learning By Design’s distinguished fall 2017 jury of six architects and end-user’s applauded Eppstein Uhen Architects for its accomplishment in designing the Waunakee Intermediate School. All projects included in this edition are all peer-reviewed. The jury discusses and looks for in each project unique and or new concepts being implemented to improve education facility building design. Projects such as Waunakee Intermediate School are scored on six measures: Innovation, Community Need, Interior Design, Sustainability, Functional Design and 21st Century Learning.
Waunakee Intermediate School is a 700-student school where the learning environments feature enhanced flexibility for future repurposing as education continues to evolve. A juror commented on the design, stating that, “The neighborhood/village concept and the ties to the farm community are evident. Feels ‘elevated’ and sophisticated but also connected to the region and landscape.”
