New Florida legislature will make significant changes to numerous provisions related to the regulation of various healthcare facilities, according to an article on the Lexology website.
The changes to Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) regulations include:
• A certificate of exemptions from licensure for a healthcare clinic would be valid for up to two years. Under current law, such exemption certificates are valid indefinitely
• An assisted living facility would be prohibited from operating more than 120 consecutive days without an administrator who has completed the core educational requirements
• All controlling interests in a healthcare facility would be required to undergo criminal background screening. Current law only requires background screening of controlling interests if AHCA has reasons to believe that such persons have been convicted of a prohibited offense.
