Gerflor USA launches 'Floors For Restore' donation program flooring initiative to benefit Habitat For Humanity

CHICAGO, IL – Gerflor, a global leader in the design and manufacture of modern resilient flooring, today announced the launch of its “Floors for ReStore” program with a donation of nearly 185,000 square feet (more than three football fields) of its high quality commercial-grade flooring used in healthcare, education, sports, retail, and industrial environments to numerous Chicagoland Habitat for Humanity ReStore locations. These nonprofit home improvement stores and donation centers sell building materials with a portion of the proceeds used to build affordable housing in the communities they serve.

The Habitat for Humanity ReStore concept of providing new or gently used building materials to the public aligns with Gerflor’s environmental philosophy of reuse and recycle. Similar to Gerflor’s environmental practices, this donation will help eliminate material waste, while improving the indoor air quality and operational efficiency of the spaces its used in. Gerflor’s resilient flooring is 100% recyclable, low-VOC, FloorScore™ certified, low maintenance, and has a lifecycle of more than 20 years.

“We are thrilled to accept this donation from Gerflor as they are known throughout the flooring industry as a provider of high quality flooring solutions,” says Marcus Hayes, Operations Manager of Habitat for Humanity ReStore Chicago. “Our customers can rest easy knowing they’ve selected a great product, and more importantly, that they’ve contributed to providing simple, decent, and affordable housing to families in the Chicagoland area through ReStore proceeds."

“Gerflor is a global company with a strong commitment to the U.S. and our local communities,” says Benjamin Bachman, CEO, Gerflor USA. “The donations are a win-win for everyone involved because it diverts potential waste from local landfills, gives ReStore customers access to a wide range of high-quality, environmentally-friendly flooring, and allows Gerflor to be a good corporate citizen. We are proud to support the development of affordable homes and healthy communities with Habitat for Humanity.”
