HLAC Seeks Nominations for 2018-2020 Board of Directors


Textile laundering is increasingly being held to higher standards in the healthcare industry and the Healthcare Laundry Accreditation Council (HLAC) finds itself leading the way. Here’s a chance for the right individual to make a difference. HLAC begins the nomination process with the "Call for Candidates" for the 2018-2020 HLAC Board of Directors. Applications will be accepted immediately with a deadline of September 28, 2017 by 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time. Nominations will not be accepted after this date and time.
 
"The HLAC Board of Directors comprises passionate individuals who are truly dedicated to our cause of developing and maintaining the highest professional standards in the processing of reusable textiles for hospitals, nursing homes, and other healthcare facilities," says John Scherberger, HLAC board president. "Those named to our board join an independent, highly experienced group of professionals who come together from all branches of the industry -- commercial laundry operators, association executives, co-op and on-premise laundry operators, infection control and EVS professionals, laundry industry suppliers, and representatives of federal government organizations. These are people making a difference where it matters most."  
 
The HLAC Board of Directors consists of four classes of Directors. For 2018-2020, there are open positions in Class 1. The description for Class1 is listed below:
 
Class 1 - Textile maintenance companies (i.e., these are owners and/or operators and of non-cooperative or in-house laundries) engaged in healthcare textile processing and healthcare textile maintenance cooperatives (i.e., laundries owned by several healthcare facilities) and/or in-house (laundry) textile maintenance facilities for healthcare institutions. A minimum of one (1) representative from a textile maintenance company and a healthcare textile maintenance cooperative is required.
 
The Board of Directors is responsible for overseeing the management, finance, and operations of HLAC in order to permit the organization to accomplish its mission and its purpose. HLAC Board Members serve for a three (3)-year term and must be able to dedicate three (3) to four (4) hours per week to HLAC business (including conference calls and two in-person Board meetings per year). 
 
Individuals elected to the 2018-2020 HLAC Board of Directors must be available to attend the November 14-15, 2017 in-person Board meeting.
