Healthcare Surfaces Summit To Welcome Keynote Speaker EPA’s Dr. Stephen Tomasino


Healthcare Surfaces Summit, the industry’s leading nonprofit focused on the prevention of the spread of pathogens via surfaces, announced today the keynote speaker for their 3rd annual Summit event: Dr. Stephen Tomasino, Senior Scientist at the EPA’s Office of Pesticide Programs (OPP) Microbiology Laboratory located at the Environmental Science Center, Fort Meade, Maryland.

Dr. Tomasino’s address will include the role antimicrobial product registration, method development strategies, new guidance documents and label claims play in protecting public, patients and healthcare personnel.

He will also share ongoing Agency work on quantitative test methods for antimicrobial products. “We are honored and thrilled to have Dr. Tomasino attend this year’s Summit. His contributions to support EPA’s goal to advance the science of antimicrobial product efficacy testing by adoption of new quantitative methods are invaluable in our efforts to put an end to hospital acquired infections” said Linda Lybert, Healthcare Surfaces Summit’s Founder and Executive Director.

Dr. Tomasino will be addressing global leaders in the fields of infection prevention, microbiology, clinical laboratory sciences, environmental sciences, occupational health, manufacturing, architecture and design, and patient advocacy at the 2018 Healthcare Surfaces Summit.

This year’s meeting will take place Tuesday, August 21st and Wednesday, August 22nd at the newly renovated Renaissance Minneapolis Bloomington in Bloomington, Minn. In his role at EPA, Dr. Tomasino has expertise in consensus-building collaborations with stakeholders, standards-setting organizations, other federal agencies, and the international community. He is perfectly suited to inspire and empower the ongoing mission of the Healthcare Surfaces Summit. E
