Designers look for ways to design healthcare facilities for hard-to-classify 'boomers,' according to an article on the Health Facilities Management website.

As designers realize that meeting current codes and guidelines is not enough, the concept of universal design has evolved.

Universal design provides comprehensive design criteria, applicable to the boomer generation as well as the aged, special needs and bariatric patients.

One universal design principle is to ensure that there are no areas of blind or obstructed views, or specific situations that are potentially dangerous.
