Some hospitals offer sleeping accommodations, food and other essential items.


In an article on the Becker's Hospital Review website, healthcare organizations discuss how they take care of staff during potentially dangerous weather.   

Some hospitals offer sleeping accommodations, food and other essential items.

For instance, during severe winter storms, the University of Virginia Health System converts about 150 exam rooms into overnight accommodations. Air mattresses are brought in as beds.

UVA Health System also provides meal vouchers to employees during winter storms so they can eat in the cafeteria and tries to provide entertainment, such as a movie, along with linens and toiletry kits, as needed.
